The Second Amendment

and the case currently before SCOTUS (Supreme Court of The United States) is and should be of the utmost importance to each and every citizen of the United States.

Many on the left feel that disarming law abiding citizens of their right to own, buy, possess, or use a handgun, rifle, or shotgun, will reduce crime, and keep firearms out of the reach of *GASP* 'the children' *GASP*, who might shoot themselves or others, but that argument is so full of falsehoods as to be laughable!

Granted, there are instances wherein a 'child' 'young adult' 'garden variety nut bag' will obtain a firearm, kill and maim people, but the fact remains that the vast majority of law abiding citizens who own firearms are very aware of personal responsibility of owning said firearms. As a firearms owner, I am extremely conscious of that fact.

I am not oblivious to the fact that from time to time, a legally owned firearm will be involved in a crime (which, by the way, ALWAYS makes the 6:00 pm news), but that fact pales in comparison to the number of crimes that are committed by criminals in possession of firearms that have been obtained in a illegal manner.

I do find it amusing that, when I talk to gun ban advocates, and ask if they have ever fired a weapon, the over whelming majority say 'NO.' When I further query as to why, the answer is essentially the same...'Guns kill people.'

Well, yes, in the most base argument, guns do kill people, but only with the action of a person pulling the trigger, or some dumb ass playing around with a firearm, and not checking the chamber.

All 'dangers' aside of owning a firearm, both real and perceived, the fact of the matter remains that the right of the people to keep and bear arms is absolute in my view, and that a government that seeks to restrict or abolish ownership of firearms is wrong.
