My Belief In Conservatism.

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

I am a conservative first and foremost, and a member of the GOP, secondary. I believe with all my heart that conservatism is the best way to uplift people, economically, socially, and morally. I believe that as a conservative, it is my responsibility to take care of myself and my family. I do not believe as a citizen, that it is the responsibility of the government to care for me, provide for me, take care of me, or for that matter, babysit me like a two year old who needs potty training. I AM not a child.

Personally, I am disdainful of the 'New Deal' programs of the 1930s, and the 'Great Society' programs of the 1960s, because what those programs fomented was an insidious reliance of the American people on the mantra that the government will take care of them, which in turn lead to, in a great extent, the socialism of the American Society, which we suffer from to this day.

What many liberals cannot comprehend is that at one time, being on the 'public dole' was a sign of failure and disgrace, because it was socially unacceptable, and people would take any type of employment to avoid it, but with the 'New Deal' programs and the 'Great Society' programs, that stigma was largely dismissed, and especially with the 'Great Society' programs, morphed into a generational reliance on government hand outs.

But, I digress.

As a conservative, I am an individual, not some member of a mythical village that demands that it takes a village to raise a child, therefore I do not buy into that political correctness claptrap, for when some leftist politician declares that it takes a 'village', in reality what they are declaring is that it takes the government. It takes a responsible parent or parents to raise a child, to teach them right from wrong, instilling in them the virtues of civic responsibility, good sportsmanship, respect for others, and abiding by the 'Golden Rule.' Simple things I grew up with, but it seems to be lost on the modern day leftist.

As a conservative, I do not believe that a child has more rights then me, as an adult. When I was growing up, it was not uncommon for neighborhood parents, upon seeing us kids doing something we shouldn't be doing, to give us the phrase we dreaded..."I am calling your Mother right now!" Now, contrary to leftist beliefs, this was not a matter of the village taking care of the child, but rather a parent castigating another parent's child, without fear of some silly and asinine lawsuit about being 'verbally abusive.'

As a conservative, I believe that if you are an illegal alien living and working in this country, you should be deported back to your country of origin, anchor babies notwithstanding, and if you desire to become a citizen, wait your damned turn. As for American corporations, for the sake of God, stop printing your products in a bilingual manner, for you are perpetuating this fraud called multiculturalism, and from a business standpoint, it would lower your costs!

As a conservative, I believe in God, the Bible, and my 2nd Amendment right, and further, as a conservative, I think I will have another beer.

To be continued...

Gothmiester,
Now that's what I call damn good principle. Sometimes its necessary to write things down, to be read, in order to give inspiration and direction. This was excellent. Now if we could get at least, say Half(?) of the GOP to read it...
