January 28, 1986. I remember that day well. I was at Naval Hospital, San Diego, as a HM3 when we received word of this disaster.

Where were you?

I didn't see it Goth til afte it happened. I do not remember but I do remember Regans closing sentence how they "slipped the surley bonds of earth to touch the face of God."

Boy do I miss Ronnie.

I was sitting out in the parking lot at work having lunch with my wife. It was a clear blue sky. Not a cloud to be seen.

I happened to look up and noticed a thin wisp of a "cloud" in the eastern horizon that stretched upwards. Thought it is was peculiar.

As I walked back in, I noticed everyone standing outside looking east and that's when I knew something had gone wrong.

I can close my eyes and still see that sky.

I've been to Canaveral and seen the memorial. It's amazing.
