It Isn't About An Election...

any longer.

In the beginning, the catalyst for the uprising in Iran was about an election, but I honestly think it has progressed far past that at this point...I do believe it is now an open revolt against the regime of mullahs that have ruled that country with an iron fist since 1979. A large majority of Iranians were either youngsters during the 1979 islamic takeover, or were not even born yet, statistics have shown. so it stands to reason that these youths are tired of the repression, tired of the oppression, and are ready for a change, and hopefully a change for the better.

From what I have read over the years, the Iranian government is against the West, and by extension, America, but the Iranian populace overall (especially the younger folks) are very much pro western, so it would be to our benefit that we support them during this protest, and not abandon them, like we did after the first Gulf War where we encouraged pro western Iraqis and Kurds to take up arms against Saddam Hussein. That was a colossal blunder and an unforgivable mistake on our part.

We need to act, and we need to act now in our support of those Iranians who desire freedom
