Dear 'TIME' Magazine

Dear Mr. Stengel,

I am writing to you regarding the recent 'Time' magazine cover photograph.

As a Veteran, the Son of a Veteran, the Grandson of a Soldier killed in action during World War II, and the Great Grand Nephew of a Veteran who served during World War I, I find your magazine's blatant political bastardization of the photograph of the flag raising on Iwo Jima to be most morally reprehensible and repugnant.

In an effort to 'raise' the politically correct mantra of of global warming awareness, which I might add HAS NOT been scientifically proven either way, you have denigrated the very memory of those Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen, who have served, both in war time and peace time. It is especially egregious and exceedingly distasteful that you and your editorial board chose the photograph most revered by veterans of any branch of the Armed Services to make your idiotic point.

Might I remind you, and those at the editorial board of your magazine, of history. The threat of Nazism, Fascism, and Japanese Imperialism was very real during the 1920s, 1930s, and the 1940s, hence the reason the United States went to war, whereas the 'threat' of global warming is not such a threat as you are trying to portray. It is blatantly obvious that you and your editorial board lack the historical perspective to acknowledge this 'small' fact, and instead rely on innuendo and shock value to advance your flawed agenda.

That being said, you sir, and your crack editorial staff of politically correct whiz kids need to retract that abysmal cover, and immediately issue an apology for your callous disregard of those who served honorably, on the front cover, to each and every veteran.

I highly doubt you will.

P.S. As an aside, I will never again read or purchase your magazine, and I will strongly encourage my family and friends to do the same. You pissed off a lot of veterans.
