Wrong!

Sunday, May 3, 2009

With all due respect, Gov. Bush you, and the rest of the establishment Republicans are wrong in your assessment of what is ailing the GOP.

It is not nostalgia for President Ronald Reagan that is hurting the message of the GOP.

The problem with the GOP is not a return to 'Reagan Conservatism', but rather a departure from it. The GOP has gone from a conservative party to a 'go along to get along' party, inside the beltway 'Blue Blood', 'Country Club' republicanism, which on its' very face is anathema to the grassroots conservatives who flocked to the GOP in the late 1970s, early 1980s. You do recall that phenomenon called 'Reagan Democrats', don't you? There was a reason for that, and that was because President Reagan brought forth a coherent, well thought out, and simple message to the American public, and they responded, in droves.

During the last few years, the GOP drifted further and further away from 'Reaganism', and adopted expansionism of federal authority, expansionism of federal spending, pork laden bills, lack of taking the democrats to task for unwise and asinine laws, and you honestly wonder why you got your collective hats handed to you?

And to compound your idiocy, you slyly denigrate, belittle, and undermine Gov. Palin, who was the sole reason Sen. McCain received the votes he did. The truth is, I, and many like me, did NOT vote for Sen. McCain because we were so enamored of him, but rather it was a vote for Gov. Palin and a vote against Obama.

Trust me, we conservatives were not all that enthused about Sen. McCain, so it should come as no surprise (although, apparently it does) that we are not all that enthused about your efforts to revive the party, since you have demonstrated failure upon failure with your previous resuscitation.

If you really want to know how to revive the GOP, and conservatism, try doing a simple thing you have forgotten...

LISTEN!

Well said, Gothguy.

We don't need any more mushy-assed Bush liberalization of the conservative movement. The past 8 years, the "Republican" Leadership went totally pillow-soft on immigration and spending.

Gothdude,

That was 110% correct. A hearty harrumph to everything you and Billy Ray said.
